Palazzo del Mercante owes its name to the street where it’s located: Via Ricci 14, formerly known as Via della Mercanzia (i.e. Merchant’s street).
Since the building is of great historical interest, renovation was carefully and respectfully carried out. In fact, the antique Tuscan ceilings have been maintained and coupled with a clean and modern environment, giving our guests the perfect mixture of comfort and authenticity.
The uniqueness of Palazzo del Mercante undoubtedly relies on its privileged position and the outstanding view that can be appreciated from each and every room.
Our Panoramic Rooms, for example, have two large windows each, from which you can enjoy Montepulciano’s Renaissance roofs and Churches, the Val di Chiana Valley, Trasimeno Lake, Montepulciano’s Lake and Chiusi’s Lake, up to the Tuscan Appennino.
Mercante superior and Poliziano Classic rooms, on the other hand, overlook the charming lanes of Montepulciano and S. Antonio’s Church, which nowadays is the Contrada di Talosa’s headquarters.
Palazzo del mercante is located in Montepulciano, in Via Ricci 14, close to Piazza Grande and Piazza San Francesco, in the heart of the historic centre.
